Muchelney by Bike

Situated 1 1/2 miles south of Langport lies the historic settlement of Muchelney. All of our circular cycle rides pass through or very close to the village.

From the Centre, the village is reached by bike along an off road cycleway and then a very short section of quiet country road. Approaching the settlement, the historic ruins of the Benedictine Abbey and 15th Century church greet the rider.

Now in the care of English Heritage, the Abbey is a not to be missed experience. Explore the well preserved abbot's house and enjoy the exhibitions which bring the abbey ruins to life.

Priest's House Muchelney

Adjacent to the church can be found the 14th Century Priest's house, a National Trust property, considered by many to be the finest example of its kind in the country.

And for the lovers of food and cream teas, the Muchelney Farm Shop (open Tues - Sat) is but a short distance beyond the abbey.
